Chair Yoga
Explore this modified version of the practice of Yoga.
Learn Yoga breathing techniques, as well as sitting postures to reduce stress and anxiety and to promote relaxation.

This class focuses on the individual steps & terminology used

This modified exercise class provides mental and physical
benefits! Students can expect to experience muscle

Geri-Fit
Designed specifically for older adults, this video-led chair
exercise class will help you gain muscle to remain independent! Stretch bands and light dumbbells will be used, and all
movements are performed seated. No dancing, aerobics, or choreography to learn, and you never have to get on the floor!

Enhance Fitness (Evidence Based)
An evidence-based exercise class that meets 3 times per week and includes a warm– up and cool-down as well as a variety of aerobic, strength training, and stretching
exercises. Balance exercises will also be performed
throughout the class

Programs that are evidence-based are partially funded under Title III-D of the Older Americans Act of 1965.
Individuals 60 and over are encouraged to make the suggested donation, listed under the program’s cost, at time of registration to ensure the viability of the program. If minimum participant counts are not met by at least a week before class start, the class will be cancelled.

Join the Essex Senior Center Fitness Center!
Participants must be registered Center members, complete a fitness center application and pay the fee to join.
Fitness Center orientations are optional, but encouraged for
anyone who is unfamiliar with the operation of the equipment in the Fitness Center. These are held twice per month at no additional charge.
Fitness Center Hours:

Friday: 8:45 - 12:00 P.M.
